Students in ASB plan, organize, and participate in such activities as dances, Spirit Days, community projects, cultural events, and Staff Recognition throughout the year. Most of the funds for ASB come from the student-run vending program where snacks and drinks are made available to students. Students must maintain high academic and citizenship grades to remain in the class. Students are elected or appointed. If you are interested in being a leader at BHA, ASB is the class for you!
The role of ASB is to give back and serve the students at BHA. The students in ASB work to raise school spirit at on and off-campus events. They also work to raise student involvement in community service projects.
All students who meet the eligibility requirements are allowed to apply for ASB and the selection process includes an application and approval from Mrs. Karen Sidur. Being an ASB member is easy! All you have to do is fill out an application and get an interview. Everyone has a role in ASB and you should become a part of it!
Yearbook is a great way to get involved with every aspect of your school. Yearbook touches on EVERYTHING that goes on in your school and community. From attending all kinds of different events to mingling with your student body, yearbook gives you a great excuse to stay connected with your school at all levels.
With yearbook, the staffers work together as a team to put out a book that the entire school wants a part of. It has to be a team effort or everything comes off the rails.
As a member of the ASB and yearbook staff, when you get sent to cover a school event you get in at a discounted fee. Yes, you’re there to cover the event and you can’t just goof around, but by covering it, you’re probably more involved in the action than most spectators, which makes it even more fun.
Last but not least, ASB and yearbook are just plain fun! You’ll learn a ton, but you’ll do it in a fun and interesting way. Plus, the end result is a group of great friends and a keepsake that captures all of your work – and memories – into a book you’ll keep forever. How many other classes or clubs can promise you something like that?
- Students must 13 years old by June 1, 2021 (exceptions can be made on a case by case basis, upon Mrs. Sidur's approval)
