Carlos has been married to his wife, Yanira, for almost 16 years. They have two wonderful children Aleyna and Josiah. He has seen the role homeschooling has taken in the development of his kids and how valuable it has been. He has a BS in human development, an M.Ed in primary education, and is currently in the process of obtaining his teaching credentials. He loves camping and spending time with his wife and 2 kids. His favorite subject has always been U.S. History and Civics, but his biggest passion is playing music. He is in the worship team at Flipside, his home church, and in addition to his role at Branches, he also runs a part time recording studio that serves as his creative outlet.
Yanira has a desire to serve families as they launch in this homeschooling journey. She has been homeschooling her son and daughter for a little more than five years. She has a passion for Christ and loves being able to bring God's word into her lessons at home as well as at BRANCHES. Her husband and family have been attending The Flipside Church in Rancho Cucamonga for more than six years. As well as teaching at BRANCHES, Yanira is the co-administrator with Kelly Hart; together, and with the leading of Christ, they run BRANCHES.
Nadia and her family attend The Flipside Church and have been homeschooling their three children for the past 4 years. She believes that in the training and teaching of her children, faith and character is first, then academics. “BRANCHES has been the perfect outsource support to our homeschool adventure and I value and appreciate the love, care and education it offers to my children”. Nadia is an alumni graduate from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and is a current member of the Screen Actors Guild, better known as SAG. She is also the creator and founder of the PAK after school Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) student programs and workshops. She loves sharing her passion for the performing arts with students, their families and the community, and finds the work she does very meaningful and rewarding. Nadia is committed to making sure her students have the best performing arts education and experience possible. She believes that the performing arts can open doors to endless possibilities!
Michelle has been married for 25 years to her high school sweetheart. They have 4 children ages 24, 21, 18 and 13. They have been privately homeschooling for 18 years and have graduated the oldest three. Michelle has taught in Children’s Ministry for 16 years at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills where she and her family have been attending since 1999. She has taught all subjects with her own children and has also taught Language Arts, History, Science and Apologetics in a classroom setting. She also teaches with Released Time Christian Education in the Chino Valley Elementary School District. Michelle is looking forward to having a class full of students who desire to worship God through their learning more about Him in their studies. This will be her fourth year teaching at Branches.
Suzanne Guerin has been married to her husband, Kevin, for 16 years. They have three children, ages 12, 10, and 5 years old, who keep them busy throughout the week playing baseball, soccer, and riding horses. Suzanne and her family have faithfully attended Vantage Point Church in Eastvale and she has served as one of the Preschool-Kindergarten classroom leaders for the last 10 years. Prior to being a stay-at-home mom, Suzanne was a 7th grade Life Science and 8th grade Physical Science Teacher in the Ontario-Montclair school district for six years. She has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Cal Poly Pomona and a Masters in Education. Suzanne is thankful for this new opportunity to teach at Branches and she looking forward to getting to know her students and having the freedom to teach high school students from a biblical perspective.
Kelly is a wife and a mother of three. She has been married to her husband, Kevin, for 19 years and has been homeschooling her children for 8 years. Her husband and family attend The Flipside Church in Rancho Cucamonga and her passion for Christ and teaching has led her to BRANCHES. Kelly is a credentialed teacher and has taught 3rd-10th grades over the past 19 years with a specialty in language arts at the elementary level. Kelly loves the relationships that come from teaching the students at BHA and she can't wait to see what God is going to do in the lives of her students! As well as teaching, Kelly is the co-administrator with Yanira Aguero; together, and with the leading of Christ, they run BRANCHES.
Jen is a wife of 10 years and mother of a 4 year old girl and 6 year old boy. She is a veteran public school teacher and excited to team with the families at BRANCHES in creating a community of excellence among homeschoolers. As a credentialed teacher she taught high school and middle school Mathematics and AVID. Now homeschooling her own young children, she loves how their curiosity naturally integrates subject matter and catalyzes a love of learning. Working in the preschool at her church has fueled a passion for Jen to lead a class full of students as they growing together in character, academics, relationships and the love of Jesus.
Jodi Pinkous is a dedicated wife and mother who sees her greatest work as modeling a life of Christ-likeness for her four children. Being a former youth pastor, Jodi's vision is to see new generations of youth follow God in purity and truth. Her mission is to stimulate believers to make God their First Desire. She has an M.A. in Christian Education and a B.A. in theater from Azusa Pacific University.
Jodi loves having the opportunity to homeschool her 4 children which she has done from the beginning. As a preacher and Bible teacher, she enjoys being able to share her passion for teaching with her own kids. She is absolutely delighted to have an opportunity to share her teaching passion with other students at Branches. She enjoys heartfelt conversations with friends, competitive card games and days of rest in the mountains.
Sammie is a wife and mom to one sweet boy. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for five years, and they welcomed their first born in June of last year. Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, Sammie worked as a third grade teacher in Fullerton School District for three years. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from UCLA and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with an Arts Emphasis from Cal State Fullerton. Sammie is passionate about leading a Christ-centered life, and she and her family have faithfully attended Calvary Chapel Chino Hills for over ten years. She is grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the amazing team of teachers, families, and students at BRANCHES. Sammie cannot wait to build relationships, teach exciting and biblically based lessons, and most of all, see how God grows her PreK/K students this year!
Shaena Torgerson has been married to her husband, Aaron, for 18 years. They have three children, ages 16, 14, and almost 12 years old, who keep them busy throughout the week playing water polo and soccer. Shaena and her family attend Vantage Point Church in Eastvale and she has served working with preschool/elementary kids and most recently in hospitality. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State San Bernardino. Shaena was an elementary school teacher in the Ontario-Montclair school district for nine years before resigning to stay home with, at the time, her 3 young children. Shaena is thankful and excited for this new opportunity to teach at Branches and to teach from a biblical perspective.
Karina Vasquez has been married to her husband, Tomas, for 17 years. They have children, ages 15, 13, 12, and 10 who are active in school and sports. Karina and her family attend Vantage Point Church in Eastvale. She has been involved in small groups and her daughters attend weekly youth group. Karina attended Azusa Pacific University and earned her Liberal Arts Degree, teaching credential, and Masters in Teaching. She taught in the Mountain View School District for 13 years teaching 5th, 2nd, and 1st Grade. Karina is extremely excited for this new teaching opportunity at Branches and being able to teach from a Biblical perspective.
