Dress Code
The purpose of Branches Homeschool Academy’s dress code is to reflect modesty, neatness, and appropriateness. A student should not be dressed in such a way as to draw attention to his/her body, but to respect and honor God, themselves and others.
“Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 3:3-4
Students’ dress will affect the atmosphere of the school: academic achievement, student attitude, and student and staff behavior. We do not suggest that our specific code of dress is mandated by the Bible. But the Bible does say that our appearance must be modest. Men should dress in masculine fashion. Women should dress in feminine fashion. The following standards are intended to promote maximum academic achievement within an optimum learning environment. These standards will apply to school and all school related activities.
Modesty can be defined as making sure our bodies (and our attire) is bringing honor and attention to the Lord and not our bodies.
Neatness can be defined as a look that is clean with clothes that are proper fitting (not too small and not too large) and in good repair.
Appropriateness can be defined as wearing clothes that fit the occasion. In a school setting, appropriate clothes are those that do not hinder the educational process or draw attention to oneself.
